Wedding Dresses The Designer Looks Trending for 2020, Easy to Wear, Figure Flattering and Totally Breathtaking

The latest wedding dress trends, hot off the catwalk, are now arriving in our bridal boutique and the designers have gone all out for the new decade! 2020 will see a continuing demand for easy to wear, light weight wedding dresses as couples jet off to destination weddings on exotic beaches and remote lakesides. Woodland weddings are perfect for the latest boho wedding dress styles while the romance of the fairy tale ball gown has been recreated in soft A line wedding dresses in wispy, ethereal fabrics. If you are planning a 2020 wedding, now is the time to choose your wedding dress and trust me, you will be blown away by the latest trends…

Wedding dress Style D3023(£1499) from Essense of Australia is a dream come true for your inner boho goddess. Lacy leaves gently cascade over the sheer bodice with plunging V neckline and onto the softly flowing A line skirt. We have named  this dress Fearne. She is currently one of our favourite dresses because she creates a strikingly simple silhouette in a contemporary sheer fabric which combines dreamy romance with subtle sexy and the overall effect is truly jaw dropping.

While 2020 brides are looking for light weight, easy to wear wedding dresses, the dress must still be figure flattering and this doesn’t happen by accident. Designers used to create the perfect silhouette and cinched waist with boned corsetry – fabulous to look at, but not always easy to wear. Designers had to come up with new techniques to sculpt the body and they found they could  create cinched waists by varying the opacity of the dress. This means some areas of the dress are completely lined and opaque while others are more translucent. Sheer side panels are cut into the narrowest part of the waist while graphic laces and beaded patterns create linear panels which flatter and sculpt the figure without the stiffness of boning. Thanks to the skill and expertise of  wedding dress designers such as Martina Harris, Creative Director of Essense of Australia, our brides look and feel amazing while enjoying complete freedom of movement on their wedding day. D2849 (£1699)  pictured above is the perfect example of the way in which these techniques are used to produce an effortless and totally wow wedding dress. We call her Diaz.

Another trend for 2020 wedding dresses is the ultimate in femininity – the water fall skirt. Tier after tier of cascading tulle creates dreamy romance, drama and volume without a long train. This image of Lilah, D2893, a contemporary ball gown wedding dress with shoe string straps, says it all!

If you love the drama and romance of layers and layers of tulle tiered skirt, but are looking for a fitted silhouette, the designers have it covered…

Tuscany, a glamorous, sexy and utterly romantic mermaid wedding dress, with those figure flattering, cinched waist sheer side panels D2908 has a small train with dramatic impact. Wear this dress for a beach wedding, a church wedding, a woodland or a barn wedding – it’s perfect for 2020 brides.

A plain fabric and simple silhouette cannot be beaten for making a timeless statement because the bride shines through the dress. The plunge neckline trend is designed to draw the the eye down from radiant face to waist and on down the length of the gown.

The timeless, off the shoulder trend also continues strongly in 2020 because it frames the face, neck and shoulders for an ultra feminine look that is sophisticated, sensual and equally figure flattering on plus size and petite brides. Hope, wedding dress D2761 in soft, flowing easy to wear dove satin (£1399)…breathtaking!

Another stunning trend for 2020 is the flat train which has the bridal wow factor but is easy to wear. Simply lift and drop… and your train is displayed in all its glory. Just look at the figure flattering shape it creates…

The key hole back is also featured in wedding dresses for 2020 and flatters the figure by revealing only the leanest area of the back.

The subtle leg reveal is a favourite current wedding dress trend and creates ease of movement as well as a great opportunity to show off your wedding shoes. D2840, Harper (£1599) shown below is the perfect example.  You can see again, in this dress, how variety of opacity sculpts the body to slim the waist …

And finally we love the 2020 trend for a sheer lace beaded waistband which forms an integral feature of the wedding dress and takes the eye directly to the waist removing the need for an additional belt. On D2887, Luna (£1599) this sheer waistband sits high under the bust on the empire line elongating the silhouette at the waist and hip.

So there we have it – wedding dresses trending for 2020 – hats off to our amazing designers – we can’t wait to see Limelight brides on our catwalk in these stunning dresses! Our bridal boutique is located in West Yorkshire, near Huddersfield, Wakefield, Holmfirth, and Honley and within easy reach from Leeds, Manchester, Barnsley, York, Harrogate and Sheffield.
